A letter from our founder
Every meaningful business begins with a real problem.
For me, that problem became clear when I purchased my first electric vehicle. I loved the performance of the vehicle but when fuel prices increase, trying to find a place to charge in my area was difficult. Charging stations were limited and information was fragmented. I could not always depend on a charger being available when I needed one.
So I did what seemed logical: I installed an EV charger in the parking area in front of our store.
It solved one problem but revealed an opportunity. One day, a driver saw our empty parking space and asked if they could use the charger. They had been looking for somewhere to charge and could not find a convenient option nearby.
That interaction stayed with me and then I started to think. We had infrastructure sitting idle while EV drivers elsewhere were still searching for places to charge.
At the same time, I met people who wanted to participate in the growing EV industry. When new energy vehicles shot up in popularity, property owners and businesses saw an opportunity but the barrier to entry were high. Choosing the right equipment, installing it, connecting it to a platform, collecting payments, maintaining the charger, and supporting customers could quickly become complicated and expensive.
Most businesses are not EV charging experts. They wanted a dependable, full stack solution, something that could be set up, manage, and allow to operate without constant attention.
This is why we created OMI: the On-Demand Mobility Infrastructure ecosystem.
OMI is being built to connect EV drivers with available charging locations while giving businesses and property owners a practical way to become part of the charging network. Our goal is to support the entire journey, from planning, installation, activation, operation, payments, maintenance, and ongoing support.
We believe the future of EV charging will not depend only on constructing more stations. It will also depend on making existing infrastructure easier to find, access, and use. A charger should not sit idle simply because drivers did not know it is there. Likewise, a driver should not struggle to find power when an available charger may be nearby.
We are still at the beginning of this journey. The EV market will continue to evolve, and so will we. But our guiding principle will remain the same, begin with the needs of drivers and infrastructure partners, then work backward to create the simplest and most dependable experience possible.
To our first supporters, hosts, and partners: thank you for believing in what we are building. Your trust gives us the opportunity to create an EV charging ecosystem that is more connected, accessible, and useful for everyone.
The road ahead is long and that is exactly what makes this opportunity worth pursuing.
